Since DBE program began in 2005, DBE1 has been assisting 1,075 elementary schools and madrasah in seven provinces to develop and implement their school/madrasah work plan (RKS/M) in accordance with National Education Minister Regulation 19 Year 2007. Furthermore, DBE1 has also been carrying out efforts to ensure that programs such as support to develop and implement RKS/M and capacity development for principals and committee members will continue after DBE1 ends in 2010. These efforts have been replicated by a total of 7,170 schools in DBE1-partner districts. Moreover, these efforts are financially supported by districts as well as from participating schools themselves.

Although Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Province is not one of DBE1 partner province, this has not stopped Yogyakarta Provincial Office of Religious Affairs to request DBE1 to support training for all MI, MTs, and MA in the province to develop their Work Plan (Rencana Kerja Madrasah or RKM.) As a response, DBE1 conducted Training of Trainers (TOT) for Islamic Schools Supervisors (Pengawas Pendidikan Agama Islam or PPAI) from November 9 and 12. The main objective of the training was to enhance capacity of supervisors so that they subsequently can assist madrasah in developing their RKM. The training was attended by representatives of Yogyakarta Provincial Office of Religious Affairs, Religious and Madrasah Education (Madrasah dan Pendidikan Agama,) and 25 supervisors from all districts in the province.
Training participants took part in the exercise of RKM development
Participants were very eager and enthusiastic and also gave positive feedback. Mr. Tasilan, S.Ag., supervisor from Gunung Kidul district stated that no madrasah has received A accreditation because no one has RKM. Although he was happy DBE1 conducted the training, he wished that the madrasah in Yogyakarta Province had been trained since a long time ago. That way, he said, madrasah could have started using their RKM and improve their quality of education and services earlier.
As next step of this Training of Trainers, those trained supervisors will then train representatives of madrasah in respective districts to develop their RKM. DBE1 Central Java team members will continue to facilitate these supervisors in developing the madrasah Work Plans. All these activities are supported by Provincial Office of Religious Affairs.
